What is an amigurumi?
The word "amigurumi" is Japanese, combining "ami" (meaning “to knit or crochet”) and "nuigurumi" (meaning “stuffed doll”). So, amigurumi means “knitted or crocheted doll.”
According to Japanese tradition, amigurumis are more than “just dolls”—they are meant to nurture the childlike spirit within all of us. Each amigurumi is believed to have a soul and will be our lifelong friend and confidant, offering protection and comfort.
Amigurumi is part of the kawaii culture, which means: cute, lovely, adorable... In Japan, they are commonly used as decoration in workplaces and also as good luck charms.
