Tips for crocheting amigurumi

• Work in continuous spiral unless otherwise stated.
• Make an invisible decrease to avoid gaps and holes in your work.
• Place the stitch marker at the beginning of each round.
• Stuff your doll as you go and stuff it firmly to get the right shape.

Materials

• 2.5 mm - Crochet hook 1 / B
• Tapestry or large sewing needle
• Stitch marker (I use yarn)
• Fiberfill stuffing
• 6 mm safety eyes
• Black yarn
• Light pink yarn – small amount

The amigurumi toy is approximately 22 cm / 8.5 inches tall. Your measurements may vary depending on the hook and yarn you use. It's important to crochet tightly to prevent stuffing from showing through after filling.

Invisible decrease: A method of decreasing. Insert hook into the front loop of the next two stitches and pull up a loop through both. Yarn over and pull through the remaining two loops on the hook.

Skirt

With green yarn, join with a small slip stitch to the front loop of Round 6 of the body at the back of the doll. Work in rounds, but join with a sl st at the end of each round.

Rnd 2. ch 3, 2 dec in the same st, {sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, sk 1 st, 5 dec in next st} 10 times, sk 1 st, sc in next, 2 dec beside the first 2 dec of the round. Join with a sc in the 3rd chain of the initial ch 3. (10 shells) Change to purple yarn, do not fasten off green.
Rnd 3. [sc in the center of the shell, {dec, ch 2, dec} in the sc between two shells] 11 times. Join with a sl st in the first st of the round. Change to green yarn, do not fasten off purple.
Rnd 4. [sc in the sc of the previous round, {5 dec in the ch-2 space of the previous round}] 11 times. Join with a sl st to the first sc. Change to purple yarn, do not fasten off green.
Rnd 5. ch 5, dec in same st, [sc in the center of the previous round’s shell, {dec, ch 2, dec} in sc of previous round between two shells] 11 times. Join with a sl st in the 3rd ch of beginning ch 5. Change to green yarn, do not fasten off purple.

Braids

Join with a sl st to the wig between rounds 16 and 17, 6 stitches away from the first bang curl. ch 21, sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 19 sts, join with a sl st in same st. Repeat once more from *. Fasten off and weave in yarn on wig. Braid, then repeat on the other side of the wig for the second braid. Sew the wig to the head with small stitches.

Start with gold yarn.

Start with dark green yarn, make two.

Fasten off and weave in the end on the boots. With gold yarn, join with a sl st to the front loop of round 2 of the boots. Make sl sts in each of the back loops. Fasten off and weave in ends on the boots. Lightly stuff the toe part of the boots, then sew them to the legs.

Coat

Start with gold yarn. Turn at the end of each row. The ch 2 at the end of each row does not count as a hdc.
ROW 1. ch 20, turn, hdc in 3rd ch from hook and next 17 sts (18) ch 2, turn
ROW 2. {hdc in 2, inc} 6 times (24) ch 2, turn
ROW 3. {hdc in 2, inc} 8 times (32) ch 2, turn
ROW 4. hdc, {hdc in 2, inc} 10 times, hdc in last (42) ch 2, turn
ROWS 5-13. hdc in each (42) Fasten off and weave in the end on the coat.
With dark green yarn, join with a sl st on the left side of the coat, 1 stitch below the top left corner. Crochet sc evenly on the sides of the coat, adding 3 hdc at the bottom corners. When you reach the top right corner, ch 20, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and next 18 sts. Continue crocheting sc in each st across the top of the coat, then ch 20, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and next 18 sts for the other tie. Join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off and weave in yarn on the coat. Put it on the doll.
